Delay the Gratification

Do you want to know the worst 5 words you can say to destroy your new healthy eating lifestyle (diet)? "I'll never eat that again"! That will cause failure quicker than anything! You're done before you started. Instead simply say "not now" to that danger food or extra portion. Tell yourself that right now you can do without and maybe later you'll have it. The later won't happen. And guess what? You won't miss it. This applies to bad mental habits as well, like worry. Just say "not now"... Later maybe. Try delaying the gratification and see if the later never comes.
